Notes on Citing Sources

According to the MLA website, it is no longer necessary to include the URL in a citation. Their reasoning is that URLs change much too often. Use n.p. to indicate that neither a publisher nor a sponsor name has been provided. Use n.d. when the Web page does not provide a publication date. When creating a bibliography, put citations in alphabetical order.

You'll need the following from each website you gather information from:

  1. Title of webpage in quotation marks
  2. Title of website in italics
  3. Copyright date.
  4. Date you accessed the website.
  5. URL enclosed in tags.

Here is the format you will use to cite an electronic source:

"Title of Webpage." Name of Site. Copyright of publication. Date of access. < >
